Where it stands
The words set no measure of "the strongest and most powerful". OMB puts the defense topline at about $1 trillion for fiscal year 2026, including Public Law 119-21, and the fiscal year 2027 request at $1.5 trillion (budget fact sheet, April 2026).

- Promised. Delegates at the Republican National Convention adopt the 2024 platform, which opens with twenty promises
- Funded. Public Law 119-21 appropriates defense funds available until 30 September 2029, including $29.2 billion for shipbuilding (section 20002) and $24.4 billion for air and missile defense (section 20003) evidence
