Where it stands
Missile shield: Public Law 119-21 provides $24.4 billion for air and missile defense, including space-based interceptors; no shield is in service. Middle East: the Gaza ceasefire agreed in October 2025 holds; the US and Iran fought from 28 February to 7 April 2026 (OMB), and the US struck Iran again from 1 September 2026 (presidential notice to Congress). Europe: there is no ceasefire or peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine; on 23 September 2026 the Secretary of State said a limited energy and grain ceasefire "doesn't end the war". "Prevent World War Three" has no measure.
What has happened
- Promised. Delegates at the Republican National Convention adopt the 2024 platform, which opens with twenty promises
- In plan. Executive Order 14186 directs the Secretary of Defense to submit within 60 days a plan for a missile defense shield over the US, including space-based interceptors evidence
- In plan. The President announces a chosen "Golden Dome" missile defense architecture, puts its cost at about $175 billion and says it should be in operation before the end of his term evidence
- Funded. Public Law 119-21 appropriates $24.4 billion for air and missile defense (section 20003), including $5.6 billion for space-based and boost-phase interceptors and $7.2 billion for space-based sensors, available until 30 September 2029 evidence
- Delivering. Leaders sign the Trump Declaration for Enduring Peace and Prosperity, welcoming the agreement that ends more than two years of war in Gaza evidence
